Leadership is important, but so is following. Maybe more important. We struggle with the idea of following either because of arrogance or lack of faith. Jesus marveled at a soldier he met that had overcome both. He marveled at how profoundly the soldier connected following to faith. For the soldier, faith was not just intellectual assent to an idea. For him faith was the subordination of his ego. For him following in faith was the logical next step having met in Jesus’ words and example One superior in love, wisdom and power.

El liderazgo es importante. Pero, el seguir también lo es, tal vez más importante. A veces tenemos problemas con la idea de seguir a otros, sea por arrogancia o por falta de fe. A Jesύs le parecía una maravilla el ver como el soldado conectaba el seguir con la fe. Para el soldado, la fe no era el equivalente intelectual a una idea. Para él, la fe era la subordinación de su ego. Para él, seguir en fe era el siguiente paso lógico después de haber conocido las palabras y los ejemplos de Jesús; uno de ellos superior en amor, enseñanza, y poder.
