On October, 22, 2016, 175 people made a pilgrimage to Macon, to bear witnesses to the immorality of race-related violence. 

The pilgrimage, led by Catherine Meeks, chairwoman of the Diocese’s Beloved Community: Commission for Dismantling Racism, began before dawn from St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Morrow. People from all backgrounds, denominations, and religions rode buses over 70 miles down to the Douglass Theatre, a historic landmark in Macon and the site where a lynch mob had dumped Glover’s body in 1922.

The pilgrimage was the result of the commission’s four-year work to change the nation’s longstanding story of racially-charged violence.
