They asked Jesus, “…is this the time when you will restore the kingdom of Israel?” His answer, “…it’s not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set….” They’re asking for clarity and certainty to help manage their expectations and anxieties and maybe to do some recruiting for the cause. But Jesus points them and us away from conversations about clarity towards developing our capacity for uncertainty. Anxiety, at base, is energy and with the aid of the Holy Spirit that energy can be channeled into faith while pursuing and accomplishing the works of faith in our right now. What we are given in the face of real world anxiety is God’s promise to be present with us no matter the times, of that we can be certain.

Incertidumbre
Los discípulos le preguntaron a Jesús: «¿Restaurarás el reino de Israel en este tiempo?» La respuesta a ellos fue, «… no es para ustedes saber los tiempos o períodos que el Padre ha establecido» …. Ellos están pidiendo claridad y certeza para ayudar a manejar sus expectativas y ansiedades, o tal vez para hacer algún reclutamiento para la causa. Pero Jesús nos señala y nos aleja de las conversaciones sobre la claridad para desarrollar nuestra capacidad de incertidumbre. La ansiedad, si la ponemos en la base y con la energía con la que nos ayuda del Espíritu Santo nos canalizará hacia la fe, mientras que continúa realizando las obras de la fe en nuestro hoy. Esto nos da, frente a la ansiedad del mundo real, la promesa de Dios que estará presente con nosotros sin importar los tiempos, de eso podemos estar seguros.
