The Council of the Diocese of Atlanta meets annually in legislative session, as canonically required, to do the business of the diocese at a time established by the previous Council. It also is an opportunity for the diocesan community to gather for worship, for conversation and to strengthen its bonds.

What to Expect

• Eligible clergy and duly elected lay delegates participate in Council with seat, voice, and vote as provided by the diocesan Constitution and Canons.
• Delegates are expected to attend the full meeting and review advance materials, including the proposed budget, nominations, resolutions, and proposed changes to the Constitution or Canons.
• Council includes worship, conversation, elections, committee work, and legislative business.
• Council procedure follows the Rules of Order and Robert’s Rules of Order.
• Parish members are welcome to attend Council as visitors.
• The Executive Board conducts the business of Council between annual meetings.
