Faith is many things, but at its base, it’s consent. And, consent is agreement and actualization. It’s more impactful to understand faith in this way than faith being simply intellectual assent to the likelihood of God’s existence or denominational affiliation. Agreement and actualization are about our relationship with a true and living God. It’s about who God has been and what God has promised to be and do. Consent is about offering our “inner authority” and the “fluid area of our consent” to the only One who is worthy of it! Whether it’s a parent with a dying child or a woman with a chronic illness, both offered their consent to Jesus. Both believed that if they could meet Jesus in that authentic place of agreement, something life-saving could happen. How about you?
