We believe death is not to be feared. We believe that death does not end life, it only changes life. We believe, despite the best efforts of poets, preachers and sages, words fail to adequately describe the reality beyond this reality. In that place some call heaven, we believe we will see reality clearer than we can see it here. And, in that place we will know a communion with the Divine and all reality that we cannot imagine presently. This begs the question then, how shall we live a good life that will result in us dying a good death? Words we might say as we finish a good life and prepare for a good death might echo St. Paul’s, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Creemos que no debemos temer a la muerte. Creemos que la muerte no acaba con la vida, solo la cambia. Creemos que, a pesar de los mejores esfuerzos de poetas, predicadores y sabios, las palabras no describen adecuadamente la realidad que existe más allá de esta realidad. En ese lugar que algunos llaman cielo, creemos que veremos la realidad más clara de lo que podemos verla aquí. Y, en ese lugar conoceremos una comunión con lo Divino y toda la realidad que no podemos imaginar en el presente. Esto plantea la pregunta: entonces, ¿cómo podemos vivir una buena vida que nos resultará en morir una buena muerte? Las palabras que podríamos decir mientras terminamos una buena vida y nos preparamos para una buena muerte podrían hacer eco en las palabras de la carta de San Pablo: “He peleado la buena batalla, he terminado la carrera, he guardado la fe.”
