Organ Concert: Brian Parks

Grace Church in Gainesville welcomes Concert Organist Brian Parks on Sunday, October 23 at 4:00 PM. Concert admission is free; doors open at 3:30 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend a reception in the parish hall following the concert.

The program will include:

Bach – Prelude and fugue in g minor (BWV 535)
Franck – Chorale II in a minor
Wilson – Don’t Worry, Baby
Parks – activated progression no. 4
Duruflé – Prelude, Adagio, et Choral Varié sur Veni Creator, op. 4
Bach – Prelude and Fugue in G Major (BWV 541)

Brian Parks (MA, FAGO), a native Atlantan, is Organist and Associate Director of Music at Marietta First United Methodist Church, where he has served since 2015 and directs children’s, youth, and handbell choirs. He is also the co-director of Quadratum, an ensemble for young people interested in rigorous doings. He has authored over 75 compositions for organ, piano, various choral and percussion ensembles, and other instruments which have seen premieres at concert venues, colleges, and in liturgies in France, Germany, New York, Connecticut, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. Since 2019, he has performed organ and harpsichord at four music festivals in Germany, including in September 2021 at the Basilica of the Apostles in Cologne for its 1,000th anniversary. Other recent performances include the Cathedral of St. Philip (Atlanta); Dreischeibenhaus (Düsseldorf); and St. Bart’s Episcopal Church (Atlanta).
