Candler is delighted to welcome the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Blount, noted New Testament scholar and president emeritus of Union Presbyterian Seminary, to deliver the 2025 McDonald Lectures on April 16 and 23. The events are free and will be offered both in person and online.
In this lecture, Dr. Blount will consider how cultural location impacts biblical meaning and interpretation. How do readers configure Jesus when he is perceived through the ongoing American dialogue about race? What does Jesus’s racial identity mean for our understanding of his ministry?
