Refuge

 PLACE HOLDER

I will never forget it. I was walking around Ground Zero. It was two days after 9/11. The buildings were still on fire. We were passing out water. Socks. Prayers. Anything that would help those who were rummaging around in the rubble for life. I won’t ever forget the smell or how steel beams were twisted like hair bows. Christians, Muslims, Jews — Americans and visitors to this country died that day. Written in the thick dust on the side of a building that served as the morgue, I saw it: “I still believe.” God is a refuge, even then.

Psalm 14:6

REFUGIO

Nunca lo olvidaré. Yo estaba caminando alrededor de La Zona Cero. Habían pasado dos días después del 9/11. Los edificios todavía estaban bajo llamas. Nosotros estábamos pasando agua. Medias. Oraciones.
