There’s no better place to celebrate MLK Day than in his hometown, Atlanta. Whether you’re interested in volunteering, learning at the museum, or watching the parade, there are plenty of ways to make this upcoming Monday not just a day off but a day on.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to lift up your local community and connect with your neighbors, while also having fun. The Circle of Trust is hosting community gardening at the Truly Living Well Center for Urban Agriculture. The Cascade Business Merchants Association and Councilwoman Dr. Catherine Foster-Rowell are hosting a community clean-up. Willpower Consulting has collaborated with Lithonia Arts Foundation, Tau Pi Omega Chapter, Faatimah Stevens of Dappher and Steve Paul of Lithonia Art Center to paint a mural, garden, and make general improvements to the block.

Visiting a museum is a wonderful way to broaden your mind. Educate yourself and your loved ones about MLK’s work at the Atlanta History Center, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park or  National Center for Civil and Human Rights.
