Today many will sit at tables overflowing with food. At these tables will be family and friends, in-laws and outlaws, maybe even a few strangers. Beginning with the Pilgrims, this meal was about a death-defying celebration of life. You know the story, European immigrants were welcomed and helped by native people without precondition. They were assisted in finding bread in a desolate place. So then the Thanksgiving table should be an altar of remembrance. Remember, most of us have ancestors whose tables were once sparse and whose futures were perilous. Remember that need has or will visit us all no matter our planning or portfolio. And remember that but for the grace of God at work in the heroic compassion of others, we would not understand the soul growing effect of bounty.

GENEROSIDAD
Hoy muchos se sentaran en mesas repletas de comida. En estas mesas habrán familiares y amigos, parientes políticos y forajidos, tal vez incluso algunos extraños. Comenzando con los Peregrinos, está comida fue sobre una celebración de la vida que desafía a la muerte. Ustedes saben la historia. Inmigrantes Europeos fueron bienvenidos y ayudados por los nativos sin precondiciones. Ellos fueron asistidos a encontrar pan en un lugar desolado. Entonces, la mesa de Acción de Gracias debe ser un altar de recuerdo. Recuerden, la mayoría de nosotros tenemos antepasados cuyas mesas alguna vez fueron escasas y cuyo futuro era peligroso. Recuerden que la necesidad nos visita o nos visitara sin importar nuestra planificación o portafolio. Y recuerden que, si no fuera por la gracia de Dios obrando en la heroica compasión de los demás, no entenderíamos el efecto de la generosidad.
