“There is no fear in love,” says the bible.  Which means, Freud is wrong when he says, “…religion is simply an illusion that offers consolation.” Love casts out fear because, “…religiously serious people do not seek and do not find consolation in their faith. What they find is realism about their circumstance. What they find is a place to linger with courage and in which to practice faith in God.” So, we don’t need cheap consolation or protective hedge-ism for our souls. We need that sense of Reality that overthrows all competing realities. That Reality is Love.

“No hay miedo en el amor,” dice la Biblia. Lo que significa que Freud está equivocado cuando dice que “…la religión es simplemente una ilusión que ofrece consolación.” El amor echa fuera el temor porque, “…las personas religiosamente serias no buscan y no encuentran consolación en su fe. Lo que encuentran es realismo sobre sus circunstancias. Lo que encuentran es un lugar donde permanecer con coraje y en donde practicar fe en Dios.” Entonces, no necesitamos consolación barata o barrera protectora para nuestras almas. Necesitamos el sentido de Realidad que derrumba todas las realidades que compiten. Esa Realidad es Amor.
