To say the Lord is Risen doesn’t mean the work is finished. It means that God has raised Jesus from the dead. It means death doesn’t get the last word. It means God is able and good and generous. It means that there’s no horror we can create that God can’t overturn. It means in the graves and under the ground and in the brokenness, God is moving. Stirring. Plotting and carrying out reversal. This year I want the gift of Easter for those who seem trapped in a perpetual Good Friday. For the veterans whose brains are still at war. For the young people in Parkland and Chicago. For the families of Alton Sterling and Stephon Clark. Easter for them and Easter for us all.

Inversión

Decir que el Señor ha resucitado no significa que el trabajo haya terminado. Significa que Dios ha resucitado a Jesús de la muerte. Significa que la muerte no tiene la última palabra. Significa que Dios es capaz y bueno y generoso. Significa que no hay horror que podamos crear que Dios no pueda derribar. Significa que en las tumbas y debajo del suelo y en el quebramiento, Dios se está moviendo. Agitando. Planeando y llevando a cabo la inversión. Este año quiero que el regalo de Pascua para aquellos que parecen estar atrapados en un Viernes Santo perpetuo. Para los veteranos cuyos cerebros aún están en guerra. Para los jóvenes en Parkland y Chicago. Para las familias de Alton Sterling y Stephon Clark. Pascua para ellos y Pascua para todos nosotros.
