The work to dismantle racism and remove prejudice in our community requires conversation and self-reflection. Here are some ideas and resources to help guide you on this journey:
- Read Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy or other books and plan a book study
- Take a church trip(s) to the Civil Rights Museum and MLK Center with discussion to follow
- Research the history of your parish, your neighborhood, your county in the history of civil rights and segregation, and share it with your parish
- Watch a film and have dinner and discussion afterward. Titles include the following:
- Selma
- Banished: How Whites Drove Blacks Out of Towns in America
- Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North
