Theology and Activism: Conversations on Faith, Outreach, and Advocacy at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church

How do our experiences in Faith inform work in the public sphere? How are outreach and advocacy experiences formative for our Faith? How do we reflect theologically on our experiences? Why does theology matter for social justice advocacy and outreach?  

Please mark your calendars to join a diverse group of academic theologians and faith-based activists for a four part series to explore the relationship between faith, theology, and activism.

While thematically related each session is stand alone. They will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning Wednesday, January 11, through Wednesday February 1.

Jan. 11, 6:30 PM-7:45 PM: Practical Theology and the Prophetic Voice

Jan. 18, 6:30 PM-7:45 PM: Mystical Theology and Social Justice Activism

Jan 25, 6:30 PM-7:45 PM: Faith-Experience of Serving the Hungry and the Poor

February 1, 6:30 PM-7:45 PM: Formation and Social Witness


Scotty Greene, St. Bart’s Vestry Liaison for Outreach and Social Justice will serve as series moderator. He holds a Masters of Theological Studies, Candler School of Theology, and has had a career in law, politics, and public policy advocacy.
