“We have left everything and followed you,” Peter told Jesus. People talk like that when they’re in transition. Like being between coming too far to turn back and far from your destination. Like investing but not seeing any sign of return yet. People call that place liminal. A transition place. Some use transitions like a seat at a bus stop, sitting and waiting for a preferred future to roll in on “…wheels of inevitability.” Luck might work that way, faith doesn’t. Mere existence might work that way, life abundant doesn’t. Every transition is a threshold. Every threshold is an opportunity to refresh faith.

“Hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido,” le dijo Pedro a Jesús. La gente habla así cuando está en transición. Cómo estar muy lejos para dar marcha atrás y a la vez muy lejos del destino final. Como el invertir y no ver ninguna señal de recompensa. La gente llama ese lugar liminal. Algunos usan transiciones como un asiento en una parada de autobús, sentados y esperando un futuro preferido al que llegar en “…ruedas de la inevitabilidad.” Puede que la suerte funcione de esa manera, pero la fe no. Puede que así funcione la mera existencia, pero la vida abundante no. Cada transición es un umbral. Cada umbral es una oportunidad para refrescar la fe.
