Peter Wallace to Preach on ‘Day 1’

May 14, 2020

The Rev. Peter M. Wallace, host and executive producer of Day 1, is the featured preacher June 14 on “Day 1,” the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible as a podcast and online at Day1.org.

Wallace has served with the Alliance for Christian Media, parent company of Day1, since 2001 and is currently the president and executive director. Before coming to Day1, Wallace was senior copywriter and broadcast producer for Larry Smith & Associates Advertising & Design in Atlanta. He earlier served as editorial director for Walk Thru the Bible Ministries. He is the author of ten books and the editor of a new book “Bread Enough for All: A Day1 Guide to Life,” containing excerpts from 80 of the most popular Day1 and Protestant Hour preachers.

“Love in the Time of Corona Virus,” Wallace’s sermon for June 14, is drawn from Matthew 9:35 – 10:8, in which Jesus send his disciples out to heal and proclaim the good news. “In this crisis, you’re probably thinking, the thought of running into some stranger we don’t know, saying a word of good news to them, of lending them a helping hand, even at six feet away or more– we just can’t do that now!” he says. “Well, you make an excellent point! So what can we do in times like these?”

Wallace earned his undergraduate degree in journalism from Marshall University in Huntington, W. Va., and his master’s degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Tex. Prior to his ordination as an Episcopal priest he took Anglican studies courses at Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

“Day 1” has been broadcast every week for 75 years, formerly as “The Protestant Hour.” Featuring outstanding preachers from the mainline denominations, “Day 1” is currently distributed to more than 200 radio stations across America and overseas. The program is produced by the Alliance for Christian Media, based in Atlanta, Ga. For more information, call toll free 888-411-Day-1 or check the program’s website.
