Bishop Wright has called The Rev. Canon Hazel Glover to serve as the next Canon Chaplain for clergy of The Diocese of Atlanta. The Canon Chaplain serves as an extension of Bishop Wright’s pastoral ministry to clergy of the diocese. Canon Glover follows The Rev. Canon John Bolton who occupied the role for ten years. Canon Bolton will continue to serve various congregations as both preacher and celebrant on Sunday mornings.
“I thank God for Canon Hazel Glover! In my time as bishop, Canon Glover has been a trusted partner. She brings both a presence and perspective essential for this new call.”
~ Bishop Rob Wright
“I am honored and excited to accept the call of Canon Chaplain for the diocese. In a sense, I have dreamed about being in this call for years. My experiences in parish ministry, as well as my passion for pastoral care and spiritual direction, have prepared me for this ministry. Of my over 31 years of ordained ministry my clergy colleagues have been an invaluable support.”
~ Hazel Glover, Canon Chaplain
Canon Glover was ordained a priest in 1993. She most recently served as Interim Executive Director of Camp Mikell. The bulk of her diocesan parish ministry was as Rector of St. Paul’s in Newnan and St. Margaret’s in Carrollton. During her time as Associate Rector at St. Catherine’s, she completed Shalem’s 2-year program “Nurturing the Call”, an in-depth support for the ministry of one-on-one spiritual direction. She has also served as Dean of the Southwest Atlanta Convocation for more than a decade and on the Standing Committee of the diocese.
