Email Scams Targeting Our Church Members

Jul 9, 2020

Beware of Email Scams

It has been brought to our attention that there have been several scam emails being sent to church members in our diocese. Scammers trick you into giving them your money or your personal information. The scammers may appear to be legitimate and may even pose as a person or organization you are familiar with. Please exercise extreme caution with these emails. If you have recently received an unusual email from a parish leader requesting gift cards or money it could be part of a scam.

If you think you may have received a scam email, we recommend the following:

– Carefully check the sender’s name and email address
– Look out for misspelled words and incorrect grammar
– Do not click on any suspicious links or attachments
– Report the email as spam
