Dr. Beth-Sarah Wright, author of Dignity: Seven Strategies for Creating Authentic Community is the featured January 3rd preacher on Day1 with host Peter Wallace, the nationally broadcast ecumenical radio program also accessible online at Day1.org and by podcast.
“Look Again! Choose Dignity,” Wright’s sermon for January 3rd, the second Sunday of Christmas, is drawn from Ephesians 1:3-14 in which the writer assures his readers that they are destined for adoption as children of God through Jesus Christ. “I am so glad God knows us so intimately – all our blemishes, all our joys, all missteps in our thoughts, words, and deeds, and yet chooses to see our dignity,” she says. “Thanks be to God!”
Wright, an author and sought-after speaker, is the director of enrollment management at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine. She formerly taught at New York University and Spelman College.
Originally from Jamaica, Wright has lived and studied worldwide. She was graduated from Princeton University where she studied anthropology and Afro-American studies. She earned her M.Phil. from Cambridge University and her Ph.D. from New York University. Wright is the author of five books. Her latest is Dignity: Seven Strategies for Creating Authentic Community.
