The Spirit arranges a meeting between Philip, a follower of Jesus, and an Ethiopian. Philip hears him reading a passage from the prophet Isaiah and wonders if he understands. The Ethiopian invites Philip’s insights. The Ethiopian asks, “to whom does the passage in Isaiah refer to? That’s when Philip told him about Jesus. He must have also said life with Jesus begins with baptism. But he doesn’t make an offer. It’s the Ethiopian who sees water and wants to be baptized immediately. This story always reminds me whenever, wherever, at a fount, in a lake, in a pool, at the ocean or a hospital, don’t forget to offer baptism.
