Honor

We honor those who labour this weekend. So, here’s to the men and women who: work long hours, serve and protect, go the extra mile, dig the ditches, stay on their feet all day, build, heal, teach, plant and harvest. You deserve our gratitude and honor! The prophet Isaiah and Jesus raise a concern though, both realize it’s possible to “…honor with our lips,” but to keep our hearts away from real honor. So then here’s to the men and women who labour, you deserve a living wage and not to be bankrupted just because you got sick. Your children deserve a quality education. Our teachers deserve the resources necessary to teach effectively. To those who serve and protect us, you deserve better training and more support. And to those who plant and pick our food, you deserve dignity, protection and life free from insult and exploitation by those you make rich. God’s formula for life is to make our lips and hearts agree.

Honramos a aquellos que trabajan este fin de semana. Así que, aquí están los hombres y mujeres que: Trabajan largas horas, sirven y protegen, recorren la milla extra, cavan las zanjas, permanecen de pie todo el día, construyen, sanan, enseñan, plantan y cosechan. ¡Usted merece nuestra gratitud y honor! Sin embargo, el profeta Isaías y Jesús plantean una preocupación, ambos se dan cuenta de que es posible “…honrar con nuestros labios”, pero mantener nuestros corazones lejos del verdadero honor. Así que aquí está para los hombres y mujeres que trabajan, usted merece un salario digno y no ser quebrado solo porque se enfermó. Sus hijos merecen una educación de calidad. Nuestros maestros merecen los recursos necesarios para enseñar eficazmente. Para aquellos que nos sirven y nos protegen, ustedes merecen una mejor capacitación y más apoyo. Y para aquellos que plantan y recogen nuestros alimentos, ustedes merecen dignidad, protección y una vida libre de insultos y explotación por parte de aquellos que se enriquecen. La fórmula de Dios para la vida es hacer que nuestros labios y corazones estén de acuerdo.
