The good news of Jesus Christ is: God is embodied, up close, forgiving, truth telling, world changing love. Loving is not what God does, loving is who God is! You see it in the beauty of creation. You see it in the beauty of humanity. You see the need for God’s restorative love in the times and ways our selfishness leads us down dead streets. Our God’s love has been demonstrated by men and women since the beginning of time and through the prophets of many belief systems. Still, we see God uniquely and powerfully through Jesus of Nazareth. He is our center, not our border! He lived, taught and challenged our favorite falsehoods. His stories and examples have crowbarred hearts open for two millennia compelling people to live other-centered lives. Because of Jesus of Nazareth we know that life is not arbitrary, has a clear purpose, clear expectations and a clear trajectory. And we believe that when Jesus’ earthly time ended, God’s love continued and continues uniquely and powerfully as Spirit…a companion and a multiplier of good in the real world.
