The Society of Saint Anna the Prophet (SSAP), a vowed, dispersed community of Episcopal women over the age of 50, will celebrate The Holy Eucharist and Vow Ceremony on the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple at the Episcopal Church of Epiphany in Atlanta on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The Rt. Rev. Anne Hodges-Copple, retired Suffragan Bishop of North Carolina and Bishop Visitor to SSAP, will celebrate and preach at the service. The Rev. Faustina Ward-Osborne will take life vows. Novices Janis Afotey, Susan Lewis, Elizabeth Losa and Sophia Mott will make annual vows for the first time.

SSAP was founded in 2005 in Atlanta by our first Superior, the Rev. Nan Baxter, and is recognized as a vowed monastic community under the canons of The Episcopal Church. The mission of SSAP is Godly aging, and ministry with the young and old, particularly with those not able to participate in a parish church.

Our second Superior is Peggy Courtright of Atlanta. Members of SSAP are residents of Georgia and several other states. The headquarters is in Atlanta.

Inspired by Anna, the only elder woman mentioned by name in the New Testament, we are lay and ordained, single, married, partnered and widowed, retired and still employed. We are dedicated to diversity in our sisterhood. We live in our own homes, in care centers and at a distance. Our vows to simplicity, creativity and balance are life changing.
