Back with “power” comes Jesus, Luke says. Power for the return to familiar surroundings as different. Power to be among people who raised you, only transformed. Power to teach where you formerly learned. Power to read the holy book differently–power to see yourself in God’s ongoing story. Power to stand where you used to sit. Power to see the spirit’s power to smear newness on us for the sake of the poor. Power to speak release to captives and sight to the blind. Power to speak freedom and God’s favor. Power to endure the piercing gazes that accompany power.

Poder

De vuelta con “poder” viene Jesús, dice Lucas. Poder para el retorno a entornos familiares como alguien diferente. Poder para estar entre las personas que te criaron, solamente transformado. Poder para enseñar lo que aprendiste anteriormente. Poder para leer el libro sagrado de manera diferente–poder para verte en la historia continua de Dios. Poder para pararte donde solías sentarte. Poder para ver el poder del Espíritu de traernos novedad por el bien de los pobres. Poder para hablar libertad a los cautivos y visión a los ciegos. Poder para hablar de libertad y del favor de Dios. Poder para soportar las penetrantes miradas que acompañan al poder.
