Celebrating 50 Years of Women in the Priesthood: The Rev. Ashley Carr

by | Dec 9, 2024

The Reverend Ashley Carr is the most recently the Vicar of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church (Atlanta) in Ormewood Park before moving to the The Cathedral of St. Philip as Canon for Parish Life. Ashley came to the Diocese of Atlanta from Sewanee, Tn in 2009 to work as the Youth Coordinator for St. Peter and St. Paul.

She attended Candler School of Theology – Emory University and was ordained in 2015. In 2019, Bishop Wright called Ashley to be the Vicar of Holy Comforter. Having served at Holy Trinity Parish and St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church of Smyrna, GA, most of her career has been centered around youth and young adults in traditional Episcopal Churches.

Ashley delighted in the unique complexities and sacred moments at Holy Comforter, a congregation made up of adults who live with chronic and severe mental illness and in poverty. When she’s not at church, Ashley is with her wife, Megan, and their two children, Mary Stuart (4) and Shepherd (16 months). She enjoys cooking, all things outdoors, and really terrible television shows.
