St. Augustine said, “It seemed good to God to bring light out of darkness and good out of evil rather than darkness and evil to have never existed”. What that means is God is using evil and darkness like a great Jiu-jitsu master, manipulating its own force against it. Taking Good Fridays and making them into Easter Sundays. Taking garbage and making gold. And if God did it then, God can do it now in your life, in our common life, and in the world. Way back in the first chapter of John’s gospel, John gives away the ending of his book, he says “The light shone in the darkness and the darkness did not overcome it.” That is our Easter gift. Our companion God is asking us to press on certain of the light and God’s mighty power to redeem.

Regalo de Pascua

«A Dios le pareció bien sacar la luz de las tinieblas y el bien del mal en lugar de que las tinieblas y el mal nunca hubieran existido». -St. Agustín Lo que eso significa es que Dios está usando el mal y la oscuridad como un gran maestro de Jiu-jitsu, manipulando su propia fuerza en contra el mal. Tomar Viernes Santos y convertirlos en los Domingos de Pascua. Tomando basura y creando oro de ella. Y si Dios lo hizo entonces, Dios puede hacerlo ahora en tu vida, en nuestra vida comunitaria, y en el mundo entero. En el primer capítulo del evangelio de Juan, Juan nos adelanta el final de su libro, dice: «La luz brilló en las tinieblas y las tinieblas no la vencieron». Ese es nuestro regalo de Pascua. Dios, nuestro compañero, nos está pidiendo que confiemos en la certeza de su luz y su poder majestuoso para redimirnos.
