Her retirement has allowed her the freedom do discover her love for floral arranging. She says her inspirations come from nature, a snow white lichen on a tree in the woods in winter or a perfect daffodil blossom or an unusual line of a branch or stalk. She is especially drawn to the ikebana style of design. Judy is married with three grown children and four grandchildren. She and her husband live in Rabun County and New Bern, N.C.
Alvin Moore will be our demonstration guest on Saturday morning. Alvin was born in Columbus, Ga. He graduated from Emory University and
earned an MBA from Georgia State College. He has held many impressive positions in the years following.
In 1997, he started Alvin Moore & Company, a design group that specializes in corporate and social events, including comprehensive design projects for the International Market Center/America’s Mart in Atlanta. He has been a member of Saints’ Episcopal Church in Atlanta for 28 years. Among other ministries, he has served as Chair of the Flower Guild for many years.
The design for this year’s festival poster was done by Silke Cliatt . After thirty years of teaching art at Pace Academy in Atlanta, Silke retired to Clayton. She now finally has time and energy to focus on her own art. Silke primarily makes art quilts but also donates lap quilts whenever and wherever the opportunity arises, especially to people who are wheelchair bound. She enjoys sharing what she have learned: pre pandemic she quilted with students at the local high school and more recently has become involved in teaching workshops at Gallery 441 in Dillard.
Flower arrangements depicting “All Things Bright and Beautiful” will be on display in our sanctuary. These displays will be created by our parishioners.
The many gardens of St. James will be on full display and visitors are invited to walk through the church campus to enjoy the gardens.
Come celebrate with us our 15th annual Flower Festival.
