Going to church for many years does not automatically make one spiritually mature. If I understand the Bible, fidelity is what matters to God not congregational or denominational longevity! In theory, there should be a direct line between length of church membership and depth of Christian maturity but in reality, that has not been my experience. Christian maturity is understood as: having a vibrant relationship with God as Lord and friend, and a proficiency with the practices and tools of the faith. Tools like service, giving, prayer, silence and worship. Christian maturity is understood as: actively bringing our lives, lips, hopes, and conflict resolution approaches under submission to the teachings and example of Jesus. It’s to the mature among us St. Paul says, “…we speak wisdom, not of this age but God’s wisdom, secret and hidden, revealed through the spirit… we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.” At the end of it, spiritual maturity finishes with an audacious clarity of gratitude.

Maduro
Ir a la iglesia por muchos años no hace automáticamente que uno sea espiritualmente maduro. ¡Si entiendo la Biblia, la fidelidad es lo que le importa a Dios, no la longevidad congregacional o denominacional! En teoría, debe haber una línea directa entre la duración de la membresía de la iglesia y la profundidad de la madurez cristiana, pero en realidad, esa no ha sido mi experiencia. La madurez cristiana entendida como: Tener una relación vibrante con Dios como Señor y amigo, y una habilidad con las prácticas y herramientas de la fe. Herramientas como el servicio, la entrega, la oración, el silencio y la adoración. La madurez cristiana entendida como: Llevando activamente nuestras vidas, labios, esperanzas y enfoques de resolución de conflictos bajo la sumisión a las enseñanzas y el ejemplo de Jesús. Es para los maduros entre nosotros San. Pablo dice: “…Nosotros hablamos sabiduría, no de esta época, sino de la sabiduría de Dios, secreta y oculta, revelada por el espíritu… no hemos recibido el espíritu del mundo, sino el Espíritu que es de Dios, para que podamos entender los dones que Dios nos ha otorgado”. Al final, la madurez espiritual termina con una audaz claridad de gratitud.
