Join us this summer at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee for SUMMA Theological Debate Camp. There’s no better place to enjoy the great outdoors, make new friends, and explore life’s biggest questions!
SUMMA welcomes campers from all backgrounds and faith traditions. Camp is open to high school students entering grades 9–12 in the fall of 2020 who are interested in:
-
Developing critical thinking, leadership, and communication skills for college and career
-
Engaging with their personal faith in a meaningful way
-
Meeting new people and forming lasting friendships
-
Worshiping and praying in the Episcopal tradition
SUMMA campers attend theology lectures and seminars led by clergy and University professors that broaden understanding of the Christian faith tradition and its enduring relevance in our lives today. They work in small groups to form debate arguments and engage in stimulating discussions that hone critical-thinking and analytical skills. During the end-of-camp debate tournament, each camper argues the affirmative and negative positions of a debate resolution.
Each day at SUMMA Camp begins and ends in the beautiful Chapel of the Apostles at the School of Theology. Between seminars and discussions, campers enjoy fun activities like hiking, sports, music, arts and crafts, and much more.
Visit summa.sewanee.edu for more information and to apply. The application deadline is June 1, 2020. Tuition is $1,000, including room, all meals, and materials. A limited number of full and partial scholarships are available for students with demonstrated financial need.
