DESCRIPTION:This program explores two of Christianity’s most beloved women through the expressive language of seventeenth-century music. Works honoring Mary\, the Mother of Jesus\, celebrate her compassion\, humility\, and enduring place in Christian worship\, while settings inspired by Mary Magdalene illuminate the steadfast devotion of the disciple who remained beside Jesus through his suffering and became the first witness to the risen Christ. Together\, these complementary perspectives reveal the richness of Baroque composers’ engagement with faith\, hope\, love\, and the human experience. \nFor those who approach these works from a faith tradition\, we invite you to reflect deeply on the texts as they unfold. For all listeners\, regardless of background\, we hope this music offers an opportunity to experience the expressive beauty of a period that forever changed the language of Western music. \nAdmission: $20 general admission.
