SUMMARY:Men's Retreat: Arete\, Faith\, and a Rule of Life for Connection Among Men
DESCRIPTION:Join Grace Episcopal Church in Gainesville for a men’s retreat on Saturday\, Oct. 24\, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. \nIn a time of disconnection and polarization\, how do men pursue a life of purpose\, virtue and deep connection? Guided by John 10:10\, the day will include learning\, reflection\, building a personal Rule of Life\, fellowship\, worship and recreation. \nRetreat facilitator: The Rev. Bill HarkinsSuggested reading: Always We Begin Again by John McQuiston \nRegister online by Oct. 18. Registration is $10\, $20 or $30\, according to your budget\, and lunch is included. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Concert: Ava Pakiam & Cole Anderson
DESCRIPTION:Grace Church Friends of Music is delighted to welcome back acclaimed violinist Ava Pakiam and pianist Dr. Cole Anderson for a special concert on Sunday\, October 25\, at 4 PM. The concert is free and open to the public\, and all are invited to stay for a reception in the parish hall following the performance. \nAudience members who attended Ava and Cole’s memorable appearance at Grace Church in May 2025 will be especially eager for this return engagement. Their artistry\, musical sensitivity\, and dynamic stage presence captivated listeners\, making this encore performance one not to be missed. \nAbout Ava Pakiam\nAt just 16 years old\, Ava Pakiam has already established herself as a highly sought-after soloist and recitalist. Currently residing in the Bay Area\, she studies with renowned violin professor Simon James. \nAva made her orchestral solo debut at the age of eight\, performing Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with the Fremont Symphony. Later that same summer\, she appeared as soloist in Vivaldi’s Winter Concerto with the Sempre Musik Orchestra and the New York Sinfonietta in performances in Boston and New York City\, culminating in her solo debut at the iconic Carnegie Hall. Since then\, she has continued to earn recognition for her exceptional musicianship and expressive performances. \nAbout Cole Anderson\nDr. Cole Anderson is an innovative and compelling pianist whose artistry draws inspiration from the freedom\, imagination\, and expressive traditions of the great pianists of the early twentieth century. \nKnown for his distinctive approach to performance\, Anderson seeks to move beyond the overtly technical style often associated with contemporary classical music. His playing emphasizes the natural beauty\, color\, and emotional depth of the piano\, creating performances that are both deeply personal and engaging for audiences. \nMark your calendars for this exceptional afternoon of music and join us as Grace Church Friends of Music welcomes back two remarkable artists for what promises to be an unforgettable concert experience.
