When You Pray, Move Your Feet

Mar 19, 2018

This Lent as we reflect on our lives and our relationship with God, let us explore how prayer can help us to become more responsive to those who suffer.

“When you pray, move your feet.” – West African Proverb

Find time to pray often during Lent and reflect on the needs of those who are less fortunate. Gather with your family and discuss different injustices throughout the world. Select one, learn about the cause, pray for those who are affected by it, and then, “move your feet.”

Let us pray. Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick, and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
