Dear friends,

The Rev. Greg Warren, Executive Director at the Absalom Jones Center, has informed me of his need to leave that position effective May 1. He said, “I am committed to the great work of the Center and the Diocese, however, issues with my health require me to return to my circle of care in Central Arkansas. I am excited about the work the Center will continue to do through the Diocese of Atlanta and its passionate people. This place will remain in my prayers.”

You should know that during Greg’s tenure, The Absalom Jones Center made notable progress in three key areas:

Strengthening the relationship with the Episcopal Church Office of Racial Reconciliation and Justice to focus our efforts to have more impact across the church.

Reimagining the Center as a place with more than 50 years of providing leadership, building values, and connecting with the Atlanta University Community.

Continuing to strengthen and expand the Center’s Dismantling Racism Training, including laying the groundwork for an advanced, Day 2 training, expanding into Latino Dismantling Racism Training, and building a “Train the Trainer” program.

Please know that we are taking advantage of this transition to complete and expand the vision and mission work with the Absalom Jones Center. To grow and sustain the work ahead of us, Dr. Beth Sarah Wright, of Thrive with Dignity, LLC, will serve as acting director.
