“I was truly shocked and humbled and surprised,” said Armstrong-Reiner, priest-in-charge, of the Women’s History Month honor facilitated by church member Victor Aguilar, clerk for the City of Morrow.
Aguilar presented the framed document and read its words aloud, highlighting work Armstrong-Reiner has been involved with since she was a teenager, including Hunger Walks and hunger work to provide food for those in need. It honored her nearly 30 years of service as a pastor and her dedicated work in hospice as a chaplain, in bereavement, and as a grief book facilitator.
The March 2026 proclamation reflected a relationship spanning several years: Armstrong-Reiner and junior warden Mary Job co-taught Aguilar’s classes for his first communion and his confirmation class two years ago.
Her public witness reflects the core calling of St. Augustine of Canterbury “to restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ.” This legacy of service is rooted in a parish community that believes God loves everyone without exception.
Reflecting on nearly 30 years as a pastor, Armstrong-Reiner expressed her gratitude for the surprise honor.
“I will be forever thankful for this gift. Thank you Victor, City of Morrow and St. Augustine!”
