Announcement: Diocesan Staff Updates

Jul 12, 2021

From Bishop Wright

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Brothers and Sisters, after many years of service, our Canon for Finance and Administration, Bonnie Burgess will retire at the end of 2021. In Bonnie, we have had a fantastic partner in purpose. There is not enough space in this document to adequately convey what a treasured advisor she has been to me personally and to the Diocese as a whole. The good news is she is not leaving us until year’s end. We are planning to embarrass Bonnie later in the year for a full-on celebration of her ministry. Stay tuned.

Also, I want to announce to you that I have invited Easton Davis, who currently serves as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, to become The Canon for Communications and Digital Evangelism. No doubt you have seen and heard some of his good work over COVID. With this new Canon position, we are saying boldly that we intend with and through our worshipping communities to further distinguish ourselves as a diocese in vivid and effective proclamation over every platform. Please join me in wishing Easton congratulations!

With Easton’s job change, we facilitated a national search for his successor, including a Diocesan listening session. A search committee made up of lay, ordained, and young people of our diocese helped me make the final decision to invite Holle Tubbs to the role of Youth Missioner. Holle brings a depth of Christian maturity along with experience and passion for youth ministry, and I am excited for her to join the team.

I hope this finds you well.

God Bless,

+Rob Wright

Retiring: Bonnie Burgess, Canon for Finance and Administration

I am deeply grateful for my years at the Diocese of Atlanta. These have been rewarding and happy years for me. I wish everyone continued success and fulfillment in doing the work God has called you to do.

Beginning: Easton Davis, Canon for Communications & Digital Evangelism

I am grateful for my almost 7 years serving the faithful young people of the Diocese of Atlanta as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. As Canon for Communications and Digital Evangelism, I am excited to see what God reveals while we step forward in new ways in celebrating the name of Jesus and proclaiming His goodness for all people. Together, we will learn, and together, we will serve!

Beginning: Holle Tubbs, Youth Missioner

Over the last fifteen years, ministry work with children and teens has taken me from Georgia to Texas, the Pacific Northwest, and now back again. In each of those places, I’ve been privileged to walk in faith with different people of common purpose: bearing the good fruit of God’s love to all. After spending two years working with students and digital media at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (Columbus, GA), I’m excited to partner with youth, families, and leaders in the Diocese of Atlanta as we work to unfold the Kingdom of God in everyday life. Looking forward to new beginnings and knowing you!
