“I will not leave you orphaned,” is Jesus’ promise to us. How well he knows us. His words go to the depths of us. Down underneath the accomplishments and the assets. Down under the positions and the posturing, Jesus looks directly into the deepest human fear–that we are not significant, that we will be left alone, unprotected, unclaimed, and unseen. But we can’t be orphans because God’s not dead. We can’t be orphans because the bible reminds us, “even if our earthly mother and father forsake us, God will take us up.” The center of our joy is that we have an unbreakable and eternal connection with the lover of our souls. Which means we have a forever friend.

No somos huérfanos
