We believe there’s a cost to following Jesus. David Brooks writes, “what motivates us to falling in love… is not a decision you make for your own benefit, but a submission, a poetic surrender you assent to, often without counting the cost.” I agree, as a general matter, but there’s a difference when it comes to Jesus. Jesus also wants our submission, poetic surrender and assent but only after we count the cost of living with and for him. Oh how Jesus treats us with such dignity! Jesus never bewitches or defrauds, he invites. With Jesus there’s truth in advertising. Live his ways and the cost will be, possessions, power, and prominence will lose their seductive grip on you. When this happens, the beauty of us and of Jesus meet on a new shore.

Nosotros Creemos! #3
