Voting Rights for a Faithful Democracy
April 6 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The 2020 U.S. elections had the highest voter turnout in over one hundred years. The federal government and most states judged this election one of the most secure in electoral history. However, a significant number of legislative initiatives were launched immediately following the election to make voting ‘more secure’ through restrictions ranging from limiting vote-by-mail to Sunday voting.
The efforts to restrict voting rights are advancing quickly across the U.S. Join the CEEP Network and our partner The Episcopal Church Office of Government Relations for this digital workshop on protecting and guaranteeing voting rights. Our panelists will discuss federal legislation under consideration that would restore elements of the 1965 Voting Rights Act struck down by the judiciary. The proposed legislation would also create a baseline standard for voting access across the country.
