Pepperdine Alumni Author Lecture Series: Dr. Catherine Meeks

April 27, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Pepperdine Univerity invites you to the first virtual event of their Pepperdine Alumni Author Lecture Series as we welcome Catherine Meeks, George Pepperdine College Class of 1970, for an hour of conversation. Dr. Meeks is the Founding Executive Director of the Absalom Jones Episcopal Center for Racial Healing and Wesleyan College’s retired Clara Carter Acree Distinguished Professor of Socio-cultural Studies and Sociology. Dr. Meeks is the author of seven books, the most recent of which is Passionate for Justice: Ida B. Wells as Prophet for Our Time, co-written by Nibs Stroupe in 2019.

The journalist and activist Ida B. Wells will serve as the basis of our conversation with Dr. Meeks, along with a discussion about her time as a student at Pepperdine and how it informed her future as an author.
