No Ladyhood Gathering: Black Women & Reinvention

June 27 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Whether African American women were teachers, secretaries, housewives, washerwomen, domestic workers, or nurses; they did not have ladyhood, whiteness, or maleness to fall back upon as they navigated their way through the world. Thus, they found ways to invent themselves. How did they do this in a world that tried to define and contain them? What made them persist? How have their journeys to self invention helped to create a better world for all who live in the United States?

Join Dr. Catherine Meeks, the daughter of a self inventing washerwoman, as she explores these and other questions and shares insights that can help all of us as we continue to pursue the journey toward healing and wholeness.
