The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany is hosting a virtual tour about the black experience in Decatur. Historian David Rotenstein will lead a virtual walking tour with a StoryMap of Decatur to delve into the experience of displacement and the erasure of Decatur’s Black community. Linking the threads of segregation and Jim Crow to later urban renewal and current gentrification, this tour examines the historic places of significance to the Black community and the spatial strategies of white supremacy.
