Adult Formation: The Poetry of Richard Wilbur

December 2, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

We’ll kick off the season of Advent by exploring the poetry of Richard Wilbur, the second poet laureate of the United States and a lifelong Episcopalian. His work, composed primarily in traditional forms, was marked by its wit, charm, and elegance.

In the class we will examine two of his poems, starting with “A Christmas Hymn,” (#104, listed as “A stable lamp is lighted” in our hymnal). Then we’ll discuss “Matthew Viii,28 Ff,” a poem inspired by the parable of the Gadarenes and the swine. Presented by Dr. John Roberts.

This class will be held online via Zoom. Please contact Audry our parish administrator, admin@stbartsatlanta.org, for a link.
