Standing Committee

Elect one lay member and one priest member, each for a three-year term; no successive full terms permitted.

Sheryl Bowen
Member, St Julian’s Episcopal Church, Douglasville | (917) 696-0847

Have held the position of Chair of St. Julian’s Finance Committee for nine years. I have continued to work closely with the Rector, Warden’s, and Treasurer to make certain that St. Julian’s complies with all Church Business practices. Currently also Treasurer of the Absolom Jones Center for Racial Healing.

Mary Hooper
Member, St. Margaret’s, Carrollton, GA | (678) 520-9879

My spiritual gifts include the capacity to facilitate purposeful and inclusive dialog while moving groups forward with decisions and actions. I have an “outside of the perimeter” perspective with parish and diocesan experiences. Parish experiences include leading Christian Formation and Strategic Planning Commissions as well as serving on vestry, personnel, PCOM, and stewardship committees. Current diocesan service includes helping revitalize the Diocesan Youth Commission and designing leadership development activities for youth/young adult leaders.

Tracie M. Jenkins, PhD
Member, St. Francis, Macon | (478) 474-971

As UGA Associate Professor Emerita of Insect Genetics, graduate of EFM, and grant writer, I see an integrated, interdependent world where “drawing the circle wider” makes perfect sense. I served in the choir, on three vestries as Junior and Senior Wardens, as Chairperson of Stewardship, Outreach, Creation Keepers when awarded GIPL’s “Congregation of the Year”, Appleton Executive Committee under Missioner Julie Groce, and President of the St. Francis Arts Center Board, a 501(c)(3) community outreach.

Angela Williamson
Member, St. Martin’s, Brookhaven | (404) 252-1280

Atlanta EFM Development Chair for Sewanee School of Theology; ’18 Deputy to General Convention; trustee Alliance for Christian Media/Day1. Past: GC 4 times deputy, 2 times alternate; 3 terms on Standing Committee: secretary 1 year of each 3 year term, 1 of 6 members of ecclesiastical authority; Centennial Com. Chair overseeing 9 sub-committees; Annual Council chair 3 years; Executive Committee 2 terms; ECW Board. Parish: vestry, stewardship chair, finance chair, lay reader

The Rev. Lauren R. Holder
Associate Rector for Outreach, St. Luke’s, Atlanta | (704) 962-0039

Ordained out of the Diocese of North Carolina. MDiv, General Theological Seminary. MA, St. John’s College. BA, Washington & Lee University. Board Member, Crossroads Community Ministries. “Emerging Leader” Appointed by Presiding Bishop to National Council of Churches. Former Priest for Community Engagement at Trinity Wall Street, New York, NY. Former Missionary, Benin, West Africa. Lauren enjoys inviting people out of their comfort zones to love like Jesus

The Rev. Stefanie Taylor
Chaplain, St. Martin’s in the Fields Episcopal School | (404) 414-0209

Graduated General Theological Seminary, M. Div. 2011. University of South Carolina, BA political science, 2007. Served as interim Canon for Youth and Young Adult Ministries in Western NC diocese, and Director of diocesan camp, Camp Henry. Before St. Martin’s, she served as Assistant Rector to St. John’s Episcopal Church and Assistant Chaplain to St. John’s Episcopal School in Tampa. Currently serves on the Cathedral Bookstore board.

Trustee for Sewanee: The University of the South

Elect one lay trustee for a three-year term. Must consult with bishop diocesan prior to nomination.

Tammy Pallot
Member, St. Francis, Macon | (478) 954-5441

Diocese: Commission on Stewardship (Chair), Canon 20 Appeals Board. Parish: Pastoral Care (Chair), Architectural Committee (Chair), Office Manager, Capital Campaign Committee, Communications, Parish Life, Youth Ministry, Worship Committee, Stewardship, Eucharistic Minister/Visitor, Lector, Intercessor. Previously: Vestry, Jr. Warden, Children’s Ministry, Space Task Force, Adult Formation. As the mother of a sophomore at Sewanee who also hopes to attend seminary, I have a vested interest in Sewanee’s long-term success. It would be an honor to serve.

Peter Rice
Member, St. Gregory the Great Church, Athens

My undergraduate experience at St. John’s College taught me the value of a Liberal Arts education. My daughter received her AB from the University of the South in Philosophy, and I was able to observe close hand the type of liberal arts education that it offers. It is my ambition to see that the quality of that education is maintained and strengthened, and that all of the programs offered by the University maintain the excellence for which the University is famous.

Board of Governors, Mikell Camp & Conference Center

Elect two governors, lay or clerical, for a three-year term; no consecutive full terms.

Andrew Gordon
Member, St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Carrollton | (770) 845-5796

I have been involved with Camp since 2005, when I first attended DYC. I have served as a DYC staffer, counselor, summer staffer, counselor coordinator, staff leader, and a member of Work Camp dean staff. It would be an honor to serve on the Board. Mikell has given so much to so many, myself included. If elected, I would work in whatever way possible to make sure Mikell is equipped to continue that holy giving.

Julie Gordon
Member, St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, Carrollton | (404) 731-7934

Camp Mikell Camper 1999-2008, Counselor 2005-2008, Summer Staff Member 2009-2012, Dean Staff Member 2013-Present. Raised in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Cumming. I am passionate about the mission of Mikell and enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve our Diocesan community as a board member. I studied nonprofit board governance through a Management Certificate in my Master’s of Social Work Program, and have since been inspired to seek a role in Mikell’s board of governors.
