MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of Jubilee Ministry is:

to make a direct and dynamic link between our theology and our ethics - said another way- the talk of faith and the walk of our faith.

As Christians we do this by
  • calling the church to live out its prophetic role of empowering local people to "do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God" (Micah 6:8)
  • responding to the Gospel's call to "feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, car for the sick, and visit the imprisioned" (Matthew 25:35)

MAJOR ASPECTS OF JUBLIEE MINISTRY

Advocacy
Advocacy is an important part of Jubilee Ministry with poor and oppressed people it is a powerful rool doe addressing the root causes of poverty and all its ramifications, Jubilee Ministry Centers are currently involved in advocacy for children, education, AIDS, health issues, housing, and immigration.

Empowerment
If poor and oppressed people who need direct services are even to begin to recover their sense of self-esteem and diginity it will be important for them to be empowered to do for themselves. This will involve programs sucn as community organizing, language skills, job training, and basic leadership skills.  Therefore we include this as yet another very important aspect of Jubilee Ministry.

Evangelism
Jubilee Ministry provides the opportunity for the Church to excercise the faith it proclaims in word and deed. By putting our faith into action we are responding to specific Gospel mandates as found in Matthew 25:38-40 and Luke 4-18-19 as well as the writings of the prophets such as Isaiah 58:6-9 and Micah 6:8, and many others.

Outreach
Perhaps the most clear call the to ministry that involves helping the poor and needy can best be found in Matthew 25:35

I was hungry and you gave me food,
I was thirsty and you gave me sonething to drink
I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
I was naked and you gave me clothing,
I was sickand you took care of me,
I was in prison and you visited.
(..Lord when did we do this...)
"In as much as you did to these the least
of my brothers and sisters
you did to me..."
